Scorching summers: Rehan's journey in New Delhi

Our second story of the series is about Rehan, an auto driver from Okhla, Delhi, who has spent the past 7-8 years navigating the city's busy streets. Each year, the summer heat poses a significant challenge, but this year, the scorching temperatures have reached unbearable levels. Look at what Rehan has to say about enduring the unbearable heat as an auto driver in Delhi.

Mera naam Rehan hai, mujhe 7-8 saal hogaye auto chalaye hue. Mai Okhla, Delhi mai rehta hoon.

Har saal garmi lagti hai lekin iss saal zada hi hogayi hai. Kaam toh karna hi padega, kuch bhi ho, garmi ya kuch, kaam toh nahi chorh sakte. Mushkilein sab jhelni padti hai. Hum 9-10 ghante rehte hai bahar garmi mai.

Garmi mai kaam karna padta hai, paseene aate hai bahut toh kapde bhi gande hojate hai. Hamari toh tabiyat bhi kharab hojati hai, mere doston ko bhukar aur khasi rahi. Bahut saari cheezein hoti hai humein toh.

Jab garmi zada lagta hai toh kabhi 15-20 min ke liye ruk jaate hai side mai ke thora arram mil jayega, uske baad wapas chalna padta hai sawari leke.

My name is Rehan, I have been driving an auto for 7-8 years. I live in Okhla, Delhi.

Every year it gets hot, but this year it's even worse. I have to work, no matter what, whether it's heat or anything else, I can't leave work. I have to endure all the difficulties. We stay outside in the heat for 9-10 hours.

Working in the heat, we sweat a lot, and our clothes get dirty too. Our health also deteriorates, my friends have had fever and cough. We face a lot of challenges.

When the heat gets too much, sometimes we stop for 15-20 minutes on the side to get some rest, then we have to start driving again with passengers.

I have nothing more to say, except that this year the heat has increased a lot.
